Certainly if a claim or appeals process is complicated you should consider instructing a solicitor because it’s often the case that only through their expert knowledge that a claim will succeed. Don’t let the possibility of having to pay some of your damages out put you off. A good solicitor should be able to full advise you of the pros and cons and is under an obligation to act in your best interests as a client. If it isn’t worth your while having them involved they should let you know from the beginning.
